Days off full of fun!

Hi Everyone

This week has flown by. From last week I’ve been working in Chalet Chery as I have no guests in mine, it has been fun. But everything returns to normal on Sunday which will be good. Ant’s had a family and a guy from last week wanted to stay another week, so I guess the cooking must have been pretty good!

We have soooooo much snow! End of last week it started to snow and each day has had a little top up. On Monday we decided to snowboard and do a lot of off piste for the first time. We ended up soaked as the snow went down our trousers and up our jackets from falling in the powder all day, but it was great fun. We had to work out how you board of piste, turns out you lean back...bit like skiing!!! To start off with we just kept sinking and had to dig out all the time.

Tuesday was a very snowy day, so we left the skis and boards locked up. I walked down to the local swimming pool again and managed to do 40 lengths nonstop, which I was really pleased with as we've found the altitude has really affected us the last few times and haven’t swam our usual ways.

Wednesday was our day off. It started with a really nice breakfast and then we met up with John , Esme and Laurie for a drink and good ski. It was great to see them all again. The powder is still brilliant. We packed our swimming stuff in our rucksacks and skied to the Aquariaz in Avoriaz. Its brilliant. The best excuse of being a kid, it’s just like Centre Parcs but a little smaller. You can go along a climbing wall with a rope swing at the end and jump in the pool, there is a half pipe slide where you sit in a rubber ring at the top and slide down each side until you eventually stop. The first time you do it it’s a bit of a shock, but a lot of fun! Also a hot tub outside surrounded by snow and the lift goes right over the top! And yes Ant did cover me in snow then! It was a little odd walking into the changing room in your ski boots!

Before skiing down we decided to think about dinner. We knew we had a Raclette machine in our apartment and Andy and Sylvie very kindly gave us a 2 person Fondu set for Christmas. We couldn’t decide which to have...so we went for both! Skied to Carrefour in Avoriaz and had enough dinner for 9 people the packets said. We did a pretty good job and eating it all, but we did leave a little cheese!
(We do have a picture of it all but for some reason I can't get it to load, so will post it in the next one!)

By this time it was 5.45pm and we still had to get down off the mountain. The last slope we were skiing with the piste bashers which was fantastic and then had freshly groomed piste after them! Had to get the Prodain cable car down as it was dark and it was full of lift workers and piste patrol people. They all stopped the conversations and looked at us very odd as we got on with our skis as if to say crazy people you should have gone ages ago!

All in all it was a brilliant day off!
Speak to you all soon
Bex
