Thonon, Tartiflette and Birthday cake

Hey everyone!

So I think its been a little while since I actually posted in this blog! Becky had been doing such a good job at it I kinda left her to it.

Regardless I'm back to it today so prepare to quench your thirst for knowledge of the things that we have been doing.

Tuesday was Andy's birthday so we met with him for lunch and a ski in the afternoon before gathering at the top of the Morzine cable car for birthday cake and some bubbly! So here are a few snaps of his cake and his friends (oh and his lime pants that he got for his birthday).

We then made the trip down to Thonon just to get out of Morzine for a day and see some real sized buildings made of anything but wood. Whilst we were there we visited a little cafe who only sold tartiflette or icecream, we cook it once a week but as we were hungry it became lunch that day too!

This is actually a lake,
apparently they have ferries instead of buses to get people from town to town!

As you can see we are using the GoPro a lot, its just so easy to have in your pocket and capture anything with.

The snowboarding is coming along better now and we are actually getting pretty quick on them whilst the skiing is fantastic with so much linked ski areas to explore and loads of awesome off piste to go off and adventure in!

That's all for now guys!
see you all soon!

Days off full of fun!

Hi Everyone

This week has flown by. From last week I’ve been working in Chalet Chery as I have no guests in mine, it has been fun. But everything returns to normal on Sunday which will be good. Ant’s had a family and a guy from last week wanted to stay another week, so I guess the cooking must have been pretty good!

We have soooooo much snow! End of last week it started to snow and each day has had a little top up. On Monday we decided to snowboard and do a lot of off piste for the first time. We ended up soaked as the snow went down our trousers and up our jackets from falling in the powder all day, but it was great fun. We had to work out how you board of piste, turns out you lean back...bit like skiing!!! To start off with we just kept sinking and had to dig out all the time.

Tuesday was a very snowy day, so we left the skis and boards locked up. I walked down to the local swimming pool again and managed to do 40 lengths nonstop, which I was really pleased with as we've found the altitude has really affected us the last few times and haven’t swam our usual ways.

Wednesday was our day off. It started with a really nice breakfast and then we met up with John , Esme and Laurie for a drink and good ski. It was great to see them all again. The powder is still brilliant. We packed our swimming stuff in our rucksacks and skied to the Aquariaz in Avoriaz. Its brilliant. The best excuse of being a kid, it’s just like Centre Parcs but a little smaller. You can go along a climbing wall with a rope swing at the end and jump in the pool, there is a half pipe slide where you sit in a rubber ring at the top and slide down each side until you eventually stop. The first time you do it it’s a bit of a shock, but a lot of fun! Also a hot tub outside surrounded by snow and the lift goes right over the top! And yes Ant did cover me in snow then! It was a little odd walking into the changing room in your ski boots!

Before skiing down we decided to think about dinner. We knew we had a Raclette machine in our apartment and Andy and Sylvie very kindly gave us a 2 person Fondu set for Christmas. We couldn’t decide which to have...so we went for both! Skied to Carrefour in Avoriaz and had enough dinner for 9 people the packets said. We did a pretty good job and eating it all, but we did leave a little cheese!
(We do have a picture of it all but for some reason I can't get it to load, so will post it in the next one!)

By this time it was 5.45pm and we still had to get down off the mountain. The last slope we were skiing with the piste bashers which was fantastic and then had freshly groomed piste after them! Had to get the Prodain cable car down as it was dark and it was full of lift workers and piste patrol people. They all stopped the conversations and looked at us very odd as we got on with our skis as if to say crazy people you should have gone ages ago!

All in all it was a brilliant day off!
Speak to you all soon

Road Trip!

Hi Guys!

So after a few weeks of sunshine we are back into some serious snow!
yesterday was spent plowing through knee deep powder on the snowbards whilst on thursday we made the trip over to La Cluzas.
We got up, packed the car and set off to arrive at just gone half past 8 in the morning, awaiting our arrival was Mike and Charley (cheese).
After a short drive we arrived at their appartment complex where Sarah and Alfie were waiting for us to join them for breakfast, what a great way to start a day off huh?!

soon after we arrived it started to snow and the slopes just got better as the day went on! We visited pretty much every part of the resort over the day and spent the day on some great snow with some fantastic skiers, especially Cheese after only a few days of skiing doing pretty much every run that we did over the day was fantastic!
I think Beckies favourite part of the day was whilst we were doing some off piste in the trees Cheese stacks it into a tree and just shouts, "that's awesome!!! wheres my ski?"

Oh and here is a pic of Alfie looking like a professional.

So what else has been going on?
Well, Katies family have been out to stay over new year and we had a drink with her dad and brother, her dad was hilarious the whole night and we can certainly see where some of her habits come from!

Some friends of Andy and Sylvie have been out for their first holiday this season and Adrian was a life double for Hugh Laurie (apparently he is a good piano player!).

One of my guests from just before Christmas has come back out and is on his last day of hitting the snow today, he bought me out a bottle of brothers which has made him my favourite guest so far by miles!

I had a family over who's son loved garlic bread and he said "if there isn't garlic bread its not worth going to france..." so I made 8 pieces of garlic bread with 5 cloves of garlic (wouldnt want to be sat next to him on the plane the next day!).

Thats all for now folks!
catch you all soon!

Bonjour.

So were now in 2013! New years eve here was pretty good, we went to Rhodos bar which was open all night long with a DJ. We were very lucky that our bosses gave all four of us the next morning off! Not sure why!

This week has been great, a couple of little snow falls during the nights which has meant great snow the following day. Today's weather was sunny to, so best of both worlds! We had laugh at the top of Plenny by what Dad calls the club house restaurant. A lady who does photography wanted to take our photo, then we ended up with a photo shoot with her! Had us off our skis and board and lying in the snow and doing all fancy posses!!!

Also got some cool pictures with the GoPro, such as these.

Some of us on lifts and also skiing around. The weather this week is meant to be really nice and with the fresh snow should be able to get some crackers!

Even thought Ant's only been boarding for 2 weeks and skiing a little longer he's really good and looking like a natural. However his abilities to sit on chairlifts are still to improve and had to enjoy this one sat like this!! I didn't laugh at all!

Tomorrow were going to make use of the great swimming center in Morzine. Were tackling Carefour in the morning so feel a nice relaxing afternoon in the pool will be needed!

This is everything for now, but shall be in touch again soon.
